Promoter of sustainable tourism – sustainable tourism is a continuous development

Sustainable development?
Sustainable development means the well-being of people within the limits of the earth’s carrying capacity. It is therefore an activity that meets the needs of today’s society without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The three dimensions of sustainability, social, environmental and economic, are also often mentioned in the context of sustainable development.

The work of sustainable development in all countries of the world is guided by the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development agreed at the UN in 2015, which is called Agenda2030. It contains 17 targets that countries should work together to achieve by 2030.

Sustainable tourism is tourism that takes into account current and future economic, social and environmental impacts. Sustainable tourism takes equal account of the needs of tourists, tourism businesses, tourist destinations, the environment and the local population. Ecological dimension, socio-cultural dimension and economic dimension.

Responsible tourism: The term corporate responsibility refers to a company’s responsibility for the social, cultural, economic and environmental impact of its operations. In tourism, responsible business is therefore a sustainable and profitable business that takes into account the company’s direct and indirect effects on the surrounding society. Sustainable development can be seen as a goal pursued by corporate responsibility.

Our sustainable values

Motiva’s energy efficiency agreement will steer our operations towards a more efficient and environmentally friendly tomorrow.

We are actively developing our operations to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment.

We also take into account the special features of the area and respect the surroundings of Keurusselkä. Keurusselkä is a traditional tourist destination whose nature has attracted tourists since the 1940s. We will do our best to preserve nature for future generations.

Our well-maintained area allows you to move around outdoors. Please use the marked routes when going outside, you will receive a map at the hotel reception.

The magnificent beach area reflects the Finnish landscape at its best. The diverse nature of the area provides a home for many animals, please give them the space they need.

We encourage customers to make sustainable choices and offer environmentally friendly activities. The area has the opportunity to engage in e.g. electric cycling, tennis, paddle, rowing and sup snowboarding. Sheds and barbecue shelters provide a place to enjoy the outdoors while dining.

Our staff is committed to recycling waste in the right way, not forgetting the recycling of SER waste.

We offer our own sorting point in the lobby and downstairs of the spa, which we recommend you use when visiting us.

We keep the area tidy. Please keep it and take the trash to the trash!

We take care of the surrounding forest in the area on a regular basis so that it can be well and last for a long time.

The biggest environmental factors in hotels are energy and water use. We actively measure our hotel’s water consumption so we can reduce unnecessary water use. Reducing water use reduces the need for water supply and treatment, reduced energy consumption through pumping, and the need to treat wastewater.

For guests staying more than one night, towels and bed linen are only changed on request, so we save water and energy on washing.

Our drinking water is of good quality and safe.

There is a plenty of parking space in the area. Electricity points are available to our customers. Hybrid or electric cars can also be charged from the 16 A pole. In addition, our Superior rooms have the option to charge your car outside the room.

Local culture is important to us. Favoring local actors reduces the environmental impact and increases the economic well-being of the area. We work with local actors, who have numerous partners and actors.

We cherish the history and culture of the region. The holiday hotel, designed by Aulis E. Hämäläinen and built in 1949, represents the long history of Keurusselkä and the Holiday Association. Opened in 1977, the spa restaurant complex includes decades of stories and events.
